Advanced Pectus Course 2019
The Advanced Pectus Course is designed for surgeons who are currently doing the Nuss Procedure in their practice, but want to improve their results. Since its description by Dr. Nuss over 20 years ago, the technique has changed markedly. Improved techniques for decreased bar rotation, elimination of intercostal stripping, and allowing safer passage of the bars under the sternum have been developed. The course will also cover modifications for adult pectus patients, techniques for recurrent or failed prior surgery, modifications for mixed defects, and rib plating.
The two day course will include lectures and hands on lab. Each day features lectures on important topics, procedure updates, techniques to improve outcomes, and tips for overcoming difficult problems from the leading experts in the world.
A special focus will be on expected results, long-term outcomes, and improved post-operative pain management strategies to allow a markedly shorter hospitalization. The course also includes a discussion of multi-modal pain control and cryoanalgesia to reduce readmissions.
The Advanced Pectus course will feature renowned faculty including Dr. Donald Nuss, Dr. Andre Hebra, Dr. Robert Obermeyer, Dr. Dawn Jaroszewski, Dr. Lisa McMahon, Dr. J. Craig Egan, Dr. David Notrica, Dr. Mark Molitor, Dr. Raj Singhal, Dr. Todd Nowlen, Dr. Jae-O Bae, Dr. Daniel Miller, Dr. Matt Thomas, Dr. Sean Gamble, Dr. Arash Sabati, Dr. Ari Zakaryan, Dr. Louise Ciarleglio, and Dr. Staci Beamer.
